What Does Frankincense Essential Oil Blend Well With? 

Frankincense is a very calming and grounding oil. The oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia species. It has a complex aroma, some describe it as resinous, sweet, earthy and balsamic. However you describe doesn’t matter, what we do know is that it is a must for any and all essential oil enthusiasts. 

Alone it has a rich and complex aroma, but when blended with other essential oils, it can take on a whole new feeling. Here are some of my favorite blends using Frankincense

Relaxation

Balancing work and life isn’t always easy. It can actually be quite stressful. It would be nice to be able to take a time out, book a massage or grab a coffee with friends and just relax. Whilst those things are all great ways to relax, you can do micro-breaks, by stopping and smelling the oils. I created this little blend to help with my micro-breaks. I literally stop for about a minute and inhale all the goodness that is this Relaxation blend.  

You could also diffuse it at night as part of your nighttime wind-down process.


How to Use

Add to your ultrasonic diffuser or oil burner in a well-ventilated area for short periods. It is recommended that you use your diffuser on the intermittent setting, or for 30 minutes on, 60 minutes off.

Wakey Wakey

Need a little help waking up in the morning? I know I do some days, so I always have this blend on hand for those sleepy mornings. It certainly wakes me up and puts a spring in my step.

  • 3 drops of Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)
  • 2 drops of Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
  • 1 drop of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus)

How to Use

Add to your ultrasonic diffuser or oil burner in a well-ventilated area for short periods. It is recommended that you use your diffuser on the intermittent setting, or for 30 minutes on, 60 minutes off.

Meditation

In the last couple of years, we’ve all come to understand the importance of mental health. One way to help support your mental health and wellbeing is through the practise of meditation. There are many free apps available to help guide you on this journey. Whilst I don’t practice meditation as much as I’d like or need, when I do I diffuse this blend to help me relax into it further.

  • 2 drops of Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)
  • 2 drops of Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens)
  • 2 drops of Chamomile German (Matricaria chamomilla)

Feeling Hopeful

When the stress of life becomes too much, we can lose hope and lose sight of how beautiful things can be. It is something I’m sure we’ve all felt from time to time, especially over the last few years.  When I notice myself becoming this way, I put on this diffuser blend to help me find hope and love within and around me.

  • 3 drops of Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)
  • 2 drops of Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
  • 1 drop of Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
