Vanilla oil has such an intoxicating aroma, very calming and cleansing. Besides reminding me of times with my grandmother as she taught me to bake, it also reminds me of when we would clean the house from top to bottom with Vanilla essence. She just loved it, so it still holds fond aromatic memories for me.
Somehow the idea of vanilla has become bland and boring, yet vanilla oil is anything but. Vanilla is a base note fixative that brings warmth to any blend. When we add vanilla we bring relaxation, sleep, seduction, and a touch of luxury. Vanilla is an absolute oil that is solvent extracted and not an essential oil, however, for ease, we call it an essential oil.
Now onto some blending suggestions for you. First up is my current favorite, Chai Elixir.
Chai Elixir
I love a good chai drink, especially during the colder months, there’s something very soothing about it. During the warmer months, I don’t drink it as much and I miss the aroma, so I created this diffuser blend to bring back that comforting feeling and aroma I need. This blend elicits feelings of warmth, comfort, peace and joy.

Vanilla is a wonderful aromatic to experiment with, and one for all serious essential oil users to have in their kits. On a metaphysical level, Vanilla can help ease our cold-heartedness bringing in warmth, security, loyalty and tranquillity. It blends well with citrus oils like Orange, Mandarin and Lime. It also blends well with floral oils such as Lavender, Jasmine, Rose and Geranium. I encourage everyone to give it a try and see what blends you can create for yourself and your family.
