Fragrance Notes
Classic Kentucky Country Rock music blares from the radio, a man clad in denim and leather sits on the stoop with a Kentucky Bourbon on the rocks in his hand. He looks at you, really looks at you, before he lifts the glass to his lips to take a long, luscious sip of the tantalizing golden nectar.
As he lifts the glass the aroma is released into the air, sugared Rum, deep delicious Cognac with that vibrant twist of Orange. The Geraniums and Roses along the front of the veranda are in full bloom and add to the fragrant party for two.
The man gently sets his half-filled glass on the step, it glistens in the sunshine like a precious Amber-colored jewel. He strides his huge motorbike and turns the engine over into a deafening roar and the smell of fuel, oil, and testosterone fills the air. The engine throbs and then he lets the brake go and races forward… into the garage because he doesn’t drink and drive! 🙂
Blue denim with the top down on the rocks. Rum, Cognac, Geranium, Cedarwood, and Vetiver notes with a twist of Orange.
Let it fire your memories of your wild time, let your hair down, and kick back and relax with Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil. It's a fragrance oil that we love here at VINEVIDA.

VINEVIDA’S Favorite Ways To Use Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
Kentucky Bourbon is a tantalizing reminder of a carefree and wild youth in a fragrance oil. It encourages that nostalgia that makes you smile and evokes the memories of a wilder and more carefree time.
It is a fragrance oil that is extremely versatile and one that you can have a lot of fun with. It is rare in that it can be used to both calm and stimulate at the same time. That is a balance that can be hard to achieve elsewhere and creates the foundation of its versatility. You can take it from a quiet, slow sipping experience in the den to a full-throttle celebration of over-imbibing.
With its warming, vibrant, and alcoholic start with Rum, Cognac, and Orange, then the floral heart notes of Geranium and Palmarosa to make it more rounded and full-bodied. Finished with heady Vetiver and glorious woody Cedarwood. It is wonderful to use in bath products where you want some gender neutrality, I like it for cold process soaps and shower gels.
It is suitable for scenting the home, It would be easy to lighten it with fresh bright Citrus notes. Adding deeper spices and wood can make it more sophisticated. But I find adding a good glug of Vanilla does something quite sublime to it, making it ideally suited to spaces in the home. You could always use this as the base for creating a Signature Home Scent. Find out more on Signature Home Scents in our article Layering Perfumes In The Home.
Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil is wonderful for use with wax. Why not have a go at making your wax melts, beautifully scented candles, or reed diffusers? It can also be used in all types of candle burners. Have you tried making those new wax sachets yet?
Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil is amazingly versatile and is easily blended with our other Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils for a true sensation. It won’t take much tinkering to create something unique and magnificent.
Its vibrant Rum, Cognac, and Orange Twist start, floral heart, and heady Vetiver, and Woody Cedar crescendo make it perfect for the busier rooms of the house like the kitchen, sitting room, and hallways. Of course, it’s also perfect for a quiet sip in the den or something more intimate in the bedroom for date night.
I like to mix it with a variety of fragrances for an amazing scentsation. Try blending it with Our Version Of Black Cherry Merlot By BBW and Cedarwood & Amber but it also blends wonderfully with essential oils like Copaiba Balsam, Sweet Orange, and Cardamom.
We have a version of Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil developed especially for your Cold Air Diffusers too. Find it here.

OPPOSITE MOODS - DIFFUSER BLENDS WITH KENTUCKY BOURBON FRAGRANCE OIL
I have already mentioned a couple of times how versatile Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil already is.
I wanted to show you how you can make two very different diffuser blends from your Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil to influence your mood.
One that will enliven, stimulate and be the life of the party, and the other; right at the opposite end of the spectrum, one that calms and relaxes you.
Starting with The Scent Notes
Let's take a quick look at the scent notes before we begin.
- Top: Rum, Cognac, Orange
- Mid: Geranium, Palmarosa
- Bottom: Cedar, Vetiver
Top Notes
We have the alcohol, sugar Rum, and grape-based Cognac greeting you first. Then you get the vibrant citrus twist of zesty Orange. What we want to do is broaden or lengthen the scent profile.
Therefore, we need to study the notes at the top end of the scale. We could add more fresh Citrus notes like Lemon, Mandarin, and Orange Essential Oils are all up there. Sweet Orange has those stimulating actions we want and Mandarin shares the same duality in that it can both calm and enliven at the same time.
I wouldn’t consider adding more alcohol notes because it would be too top-heavy. Green notes here could also upset the whole balance, use green notes in the heart or base notes instead.
Mid or Heart Notes
The heart notes are Geranium and Palmarosa, while Palmarosa is derived from grass, it has a very rosy type fragrance. Geranium has both floral and green notes.
To add to the profile here I might add lighter spices like Cardamom or Ginger Essential Oils, both are stimulating and perfect for getting things going.
You could add in another floral Essential Oil like Lavender, perhaps with just a hint of Roman Chamomile to slow everything down and encourage relaxation.
Base Notes
The base notes are already pretty heady with the earthy grass of Vetiver and the deep resinous woody fragrance of Cedar. But I think they can take a little more.
You could add some Tobacco or Leather to ramp up the testosterone of the blend but for positive actions, you want essential oils. Black Pepper will put that pep in your step and Copaiba will bring you back down to Earth.

Cowboy Foot Cream With Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
I don’t know about your man, but if I were to offer my husband a luscious dollop of really beautiful luxe foot créme, he’d sniff it and sneer about it being ‘too girly’.
Wearing boots all day, his feet take a bashing and he can get quite dry skin and the occasional athlete's foot. His feet usually need much more attention and TLC than mine do.
I discovered a long time ago the best thing to do was make him his foot cream with no fancy title and mumble something under my breath about Athletes Foot. It wasn’t long before the jar was empty of course, and he was asking for more.
The difference? It was just less ‘girly’ smelling.
Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil is just the fragrance to appeal to the man in your life and with such a macho name, he surely won’t resist.
We made a beautiful Luxe Foot Créme in Fresh Linen - Fragrance Oil Of The Week. You can simply follow all the directions there. However, use 1 tsp of Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil and omit the essential oils entirely.
The IFRA maximum safety dilution rate for Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil in category 5A is 7.33%.

Recently, I had the most wonderful conversation on our Social Media with a young entrepreneur called Tyler. He wanted to know all about creating nourishing Beard Oils, so Tyler, this one is just for you, until I can get a main article on the blog in the New Year.
Beard Oil With Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
With so many more men growing beards these days it has been no surprise to see the rise of male grooming products like Beard Oil. But what is Beard Oil and what does it do?
Beard Oil is usually made up mostly of Carrier Oils, like Jojoba, Castor, Argan, and Coconut, laced with Essential Oils. Fragrance Oils are sometimes also used.
You can make this with just Fragrance Oil or with Essential Oils if you want to add their positive actions to the bargain.
Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil in IFRA category 5B has a maximum safety dilution rate of 1.46%
You Will Need:
- Small measuring jug
- Stainless steel spoon or stirrer
- Funnel
- 20ml Rubber topped dropper bottle
- Oil proof label
Ingredients:
- 17.5 ml of Jojoba Carrier Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis)
- 2 ml of Rosehip Carrier Oil(Rosa Canina)
- 4 drops of Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
- 2 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil(Cedrus Deodara)
- 2 drops of Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil(Copaifera Officinalis)
- 2 drops of Cardamom Essential Oil (Elettaria Cardamomum)
Safety:
- Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. (I know, it’s for men, men don’t get pregnant and women don’t have beards, well …most women, don’t have beards - but let's always err on the side of safety eh)?
Method:
- Carefully measure out your carrier oils into a small measuring jug.
- Add your Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil and the essential oils and combine well.
- Use a funnel decent into your 20ml dropper bottle.
- Label, with an oil-proof label, listing all of the ingredients for safety reasons.
How To Use:
- Don’t skip doing a 24-48 hour patch test please guys. Hives are not a good look on anyone.
- Dispense a few drops into the palm of your hand and warm slightly.
- Work through the beard, massaging it in firmly but gently and trying to coat as much of the hair as possible from root to tip. (But you don’t want to go overboard and end up with an oil slick stuck to your face).
- Use a paper towel to remove any excess.
- Note that it could stain bed linen if you use it last thing at night, it is best used in the morning.
Car and Truck Air Freshener With Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
These are brilliant Air Fresheners, the Gelatin base is non-toxic, and food grade and they are made from all-natural ingredients when you make them with just Essential Oils. But you can add Fragrance Oils as well to ramp up the fragrance. When they have shrunk a bit and lost their scent they are compostable too!
Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil in IFRA category 12 has no safety restrictions, but don’t use it as an excuse to go nuts eh?
You Will Need:
- A small bowl
- Stainless steel spoon or stirrer
- Measuring cups
- Small glass baby food jars or ramekins
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of Hot Water
- 1/2 cup of Cold Water
- 2 heaped tsp of Unflavoured Powdered Gelatin
- 1 tsp of Salt - to discourage mold formation
- 2 ml of Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil
- 2-3 drops of liquid food coloring - though this is entirely optional
Safety:
- Place out of reach of pets and children.
- Be mindful to avoid accidental swallowing by young children thinking it is jelly!
Method:
- Start by pouring half a cup of cold water into the small bowl.
- Sprinkle the powdered gelatin onto the surface of the water in the bowl.
- Let the gelatin sit for 3-5 minutes to absorb some of the water.
- Then mix the salt in the hot water until dissolved and add the half cup of hot salty water to the gelatin mix.
- Stir well and combine until all visible solids have dissolved completely.
- You can add food coloring at this stage, and tinker with it until you have your desired shade.
- Then add your Kentucky Bourbon Fragrance Oil and combine well until evenly distributed through the Gelatin mix.
- Now pour carefully into your chosen receptacles. Baby food jars work well as do ramekins.
- Set them in the fridge for a couple of hours or so until they are solid.
How To Use:
- Once the gel is set and solid you can place them anywhere you want a gorgeous burst of fragrance.
- The cup holder of your car or truck is a great holder for a ramekin dish.
- They tend to last anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on their size.
- Once they have shriveled and dried up they can be turfed out into the compost heap and the jars refilled.
- Just keep them out of the way of younger kids and labradors who might mistake them for a sweet treat.
