Scent is such a strong sense and can have a profound impact on how we feel. We can all recall the smell of our favorite food from childhood and just the merest whiff, can stir deep in our memories. It can bring up feelings of joy, comfort, and happiness. It can make us feel soothed and safe.

Safety

For true intimacy, it’s important to feel safe in your environment, especially if you have had negative experiences in the past and have associated trauma.

Layering scents that make you feel safe,  into your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends,   helps to relax and engage in the process. Vanilla is especially useful for this and we’ll explore more about this in the oil choices.

Setting The Mood With Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Setting The Mood With Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Set the mood with your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends. Create a variety of moods in different zones of the home, and if you are out and about, consider using an aroma pendant for the same purpose).

Get the mood started with Valentine’s Day diffuser blends for the dining room, by using soothing and relaxing oils. You don’t want to go too heavy, though,  if your partner is likely to have had a long day. If they are too tired though, they’ll soon be snoozing! Mandarin and Frankincense are good choices.

Then move to the lounge room for drinks and …. Well, I will leave that for you to decide.

Ramp up the energy a little and introduce headier fragrances, and intoxicating florals like Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, and Neroli.  Then warm it with Some spice like Cardamom or Ginger.

Use evocative and heady florals for their aphrodisiac properties Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Patchouli, and Rose are great choices for Valentine’s Day diffuser blends.

Let’s have a look at some of these essential oils in more detail.

Best Essential Oils For Your Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

There are so many wonderful essential oils to choose from for Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends. You could be forgiven for not knowing where to start!

Rose Absolute

No Valentine’s Day diffuser blend would be complete without a floral scent, and Rose Absolute is the ideal choice.

Roses are the floral global representation of love and for good reason. If you take the Old China Roses, Damask Roses, and Old English Roses, they are all highly fragrant with varying scents of Roses, some laced with Lemon notes, some with spice, and a few with a note of Myrrh. The red-stem roses that we buy these days are a far cry from the stunningly fragrant Roses of old, that gave rise to legends, and in fact, strangely the roses that rose essential oil and rose absolute come from are baby pink colored.

Rose Absolute is full of constituents with positive actions and can help you connect with yourself, center yourself, and be present in the moment. It can help reduce anxiety, and stress and bring calm while uplifting your mood and outlook.

We mentioned earlier, about the need to feel safe, Rose is ideal for people who need to instill a sense of comfort and soothing safety into their days and nights.

Consider it in your blends and recipes if you need a holistic approach and to address healing on every level. Mind, body, and spirit. It is amazing in self-massage blends especially if you feel disconnected from yourself and your partner. It helps by uplifting both your mood and your outlook. This not only helps to center you, but it aids in fostering feelings of safety and security.

Safety: Not suitable in the first 37 weeks of pregnancy.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang Ylang is a gorgeous choice for your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends. Exotic, intoxicating, heady, and an aphrodisiac, what more could you want?

Deliciously floral and feminine, but it is easily blended with woods and spices to make it a little more masculine. When blended in this way it brings a vibrant edge to those wonderfully deep, decadent, and opulent fragrance profiles.

Ylang Ylang is always my go-to essential oil when I want to bring a sense of balance to proceedings. It is the ideal choice to bring that balance to your emotions, hormones, or blood pressure. Often we need all of these on Valentine’s Day!

Stunningly sensuous and deeply hypnotic and intoxicating, but it can also be wonderfully soothing and serene, which helps to relax you beautifully. With these actions and qualities, you can see why it is so widely utilized as an aphrodisiac across the world, especially in its native Madagascar.

Use it to give your inner confidence a boost to support a sensuous mood and mindset, and to add some seductive appeal to your diffuser. It is incredible when blended with other heady oils like Jasmine, Amyris, Sandalwood, or Patchouli essential oils.

Safety:

    • Not suitable for use in the first 37 weeks of pregnancy.
    • Those who have low blood pressure should be mindful when using ylang-ylang essential oil as it can reduce blood pressure.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

Add Cedarwood to your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends if your mind is in overdrive.

Admit it, we have all done it. Let our minds wander when we are not quite fully engrossed in the throws of passion!

If you are stressed and have a lot on your mind or perhaps are worried about performing on demand, make Cedarwood at the top of your list.

Cedarwood relaxes and soothes, encouraging you to unwind,  gradually let go and unclench!

In this more relaxed space,  we can find focus and clarity.

It can help you to connect with your center, the moment, and your partner more readily. This is just what you want in those moments of intimate romance and passion.

Cedarwood essential oil is just the oil you need when you feel you need a sense of protection or a layer. It brings peace of mind.

I think it’s brilliant at reducing stress, bringing you some calming relief, and boosting your confidence, just when you need it most.

Safety: Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Amyris Essential Oil

This is one to add to your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends if you don’t want to use Sandalwood for eco-conscious reasons. It is a viable (and more inexpensive) alternative, given it was mistaken for Sandalwood and has been used interchangeably across the years before anyone even realized the mistake!

It is ideal for sensuous, aphrodisiac diffuser blends. It anchors and supports other essential oils without overwhelming them and is ideal for stress relief and for relaxing and soothing.

Don’t go too heavy-handed, because it is useful as a sleep remedy, so pair it with something a little more lively, like Mandarin or Grapefruit. I use this one when I want to add complex base notes to a scent profile.

Safety: Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Patchouli Essential Oil

This is always going to be in my top five essential oils for Valentine’s Day diffuser blends because it is such a sensuous essential oil.

Make the most of its deeply relaxing and aphrodisiac properties. It is another essential oil that helps you to connect in the moment. It brings energy from your mind and draws it down into your body. It can really help you to get out of your head and focus on what is happening, or what you are feeling in your body.

Patchouli is the perfect essential oil choice for men, especially where there is a worry about performance. It helps because this action where it helps you to connect at the moment and how it feels in your body. It stops you from being in your head and thinking too much about it.

I like to blend it with zesty Sweet Orange and warming Ginger. But if you want something truly sumptuous, sensuous, and aphrodisiac, pair it in a divinely decadent dance of Sandalwood, Rose, Jasmin, and Ylang-Ylang.

Safety: Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Vanilla Oleoresin

I mentioned earlier that Vanilla is the perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends if you want to add a layer of perceived safety and comfort. Many of us associate it with early baking experiences in a warm cozy kitchen so have happy, homely memories associated with that smell. This feeling of familiarity and safety then also relaxes our bodies.

Chemical messengers called neurotransmitters regulate many functions in our body including memory recall,  mood, and appetite.  Scents we have positive associations with stimulate the release of neurotransmitters.  When neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins circulate we feel happier, relaxed and in this instance, aroused.

If trauma affects how you deal with physical connection, Vanilla can be a game-changer. Try pairing it with Mandarin, Rose, Patchouli, and Cedarwood. Create a sense of safety, get out of your head, connect to your body, and relax. This will help you experience the physicality at the moment rather than having upsetting narratives running through your mind.

Safety: Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Mandarin Essential Oil

Mandarin essential oil is a wonderfully uplifting oil for your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends. Yet, it also has the ability to calm anxiety and stress at the same time.

It can be a wise choice to use throughout the day if you have a bit of nervous tension. Let it elevate your mood in still a sense of serene calm and allow you to relax and enjoy the moment.

It can also help if you suffer from pain and it gets in the way of throwing yourself totally into the throws of passion. Johnson 2016 found it highly useful in clinical settings for reducing pain, along with other essential oils.

Pair it with sensuous Patchouli and warming Ginger to set the day's tone and mood.

Safety:

    • Do not use it in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Perfect For Valentine’s Day

You will see on the blog that in recent weeks I have showcased Our Version Of Fleur D'Oranger By Diptyque, Our Version Of Oud Paris By Diptyque, and Our Version Of Rose 31 By Le Labo in Fragrance Oil Of The Week articles.

It is worth popping over and having a look at those to see what essential oils and other fragrance oils I recommend blending them with. They are also packed with great ideas for Valentine’s Day too.

I love Our Version Of Baies By Diptyque for Valentine’s Day diffuser blends. It is rich, fruity, and heady. Blackcurrant Leaf meets juicy and luscious Blackcurrant Fruit, all wrapped up in fragrant Rose and finished with smooth Vanilla. It is quite intoxicating. Blend it with essential oils like Rose Geranium, Patchouli, and Palo Sanzo for a truly sensuous experience.

Floral and Feminine Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Floral and Feminine Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Single-note florals are a great choice for Valentine’s Day diffuser blends because you blend them to your will. See what I did there? Keep them super feminine or blend them with more masculine tones for a truly unique blend.

Fresh Cut Roses can be deepened with woody notes like Amyris and Cedarwood. Florals like

Ylang Ylang and Jasmine make it uber-romantic and sensual.

Jasmine is wonderful with light and bright Citrus notes like Mandarin and deep Spices like Clove.

Gardenia can be made into something truly sumptuous by adding light top notes like Grapefruit, spicy heart notes like Cardamom or Ginger and then anchoring with something woody and sensuous like Cedarwood and Amber.

Honeysuckle takes on a different life altogether when you blend it with other heart note florals like Rose and Neroli and deep and complex base notes like Patchouli, Vetiver or Orris.

Deep, Complex, and Unmistakably Masculine Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Deep, Complex, and Unmistakably Masculine Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

If you want wonderfully deep and masculine fragrance oils for your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends, plump for some of these.

Our Version Of Tobacco Vanille By Tom Ford is Stunningly complex and masterful with Tobacco blossom and rich Cacao. Wrapped in delicious woody and dried fruit notes. Warmed with Vanilla, Patchouli, and Ginger for something truly remarkable.

Add in Citrus oils like Sweet Orange, Tangerine, and Grapefruit to lift the scent profile. A couple of drops of Jasmine soften the edge.

Mahogany Teakwood is Rich in precious and fragrant woods, Mahogany, Oak, and Cedarwood then laced with a floral edge of Lavender and Geranium for an inimitable style.

Again, freshen and lift with a little Citrus or a green herb like Spearmint. Round out the heart with fragrant spices like Ginger, Nutmeg, and Cardamom.

Cedarwood and Amber are sumptuous smooth, sensationally sultry, and uber-seductive. Rich and fragrant Cedarwood meets smooth and creamy Vanilla and precious Sandalwood. Sublimely finished with complex and earthy Patchouli and divine Amber.

Introducing florals here round out the scent profile, I like it with Rose and Palmarosa. A hefty dose of Ylang-Ylang can make it into something truly hypnotic, intoxicating, and seductive.

Lighter Notes Of Masculinity For Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Our Version Of Acqua Di Gio By Giorgio Armani refreshing Bergamot and herbaceous invigorating Rosemary. Beautifully paired with gorgeous florals of Geranium and Lavender, finished masterfully with earthy and vibrant Patchouli.

For your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends, try blending it with more Citrus notes like Bergamot, Grapefruit, and Mandarin, it will round out wonderfully with green herbs like Thyme and Marjoram. Add extra Patchouli and Geranium to ramp up the sensuousness, and deepen it down with Cedarwood.

Our Version Of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male is just what you expect from the glorious JPG. Gorgeously rugged and sexy. It greets you with just the right amount of zesty Bergamot, fresh, enlivening Mint, and Lavender to lull you into its softer, more feminine side. Before it unashamedly pulls you into a heart of spicy Cinnamon and fresh Orange Blossom. Yet, it is the rich deep woody notes of Sandalwood, Cedarwood, and Cedar Leaf that invite you further. Finally, smooth, creamy, and comforting Vanilla, the divine aroma that is Amber, has you surrendering yourself to its beauty.

Uplift it with Spearmint and Peppermint and maybe a few drops of Eucalyptus for your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends. Open the heart notes with more spices like Cardamom and Nutmeg and rich white florals like Neroli and Jasmine. Smooth it with Vanilla and Amyris and of course use Vetiver and Patchouli to ramp up the sexiness even more.

Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

We are going to keep the process of making Valentine’s Day diffuser blends pretty simple, which means the equipment list is pretty simple too, thankfully!

You Will Need:

    • Small measuring jug
    • Funnel
    • Stainless steel spoon
    • Silicone spatula
    • 5ml glass bottle with dropper
    • Oilproof label

A good silicone spatula can help you to not waste a drop. Label listing all of your ingredients and dates. You must mark on your label as UNDILUTED oils.

Remember to thoroughly wash and dry your equipment between making blends.

How To Use Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends

Now, all we need to think about now is how to use your Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends. But you all have so many different types, brands, and varieties of Diffusers and we cannot possibly advise you all individually.

Here’s a broad outline to help you.

The First Step

The first step to creating your own essential oil blends or essential oil diffuser recipes (because there is a difference) is to understand the differences in the types of VINEVIDA fragrance oil.

VINEVIDA carries two different types of fragrance oils.

DIFFUSER fragrance oil is designed specifically for Cold Air or Nebulizing Diffusers. It is our recommendation that you only use it for this purpose.

SOAPS & CANDLES fragrance oils are designed specifically to withstand the high heat processes of candle and soap making. They are wonderful for making skincare and toiletries and using them in other types of diffusers. But do NOT use them in a Cold Air or Nebulizing Diffuser as it will be too thick and could clog your finely balanced machine.

We have written an article on all of the types of oils that we sell and show you how to use them, and how to get the best from them. Check out - How To Use VINEVIDA Oils.

Still Not Sure What To Buy For Your Valentine’s Day Diffuser Blends?

If you have a Cold Air or Nebulizing Diffuser, buy VINEVIDA Diffuser fragrance oils.

For other types of Diffusers, we suggest that you first check with your own individual manufacturer's guidelines before buying and using the Soaps and Candles variation. VINEVIDA cannot take responsibility for all of your machines, so double-check the manufacturer's operating instructions for your individual machine, please.

Please also check the chart in the section called ‘So Many Different Diffusers’ in How To Use VINEVIDA Oils to guide you to the fragrance oil variation that we generally recommend for those types of diffusers. You may just find your answer right there.

If you are still unsure, consult the chart in the section called ‘So Many Different Diffusers’ in How To Use VINEVIDA Oils. I am convinced you will find your answer there.

Some of you may have to dilute your Valentine’s Day diffuser blends and some of you will not.

A proportion of you will have to dilute your blends in carrier oil and some will have to dilute them in water. Please check your individual guidance.

To reiterate These Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends recipes are not designed for topical use. However, if you would like to develop these to use them on the skin, please see the section below for links to tutorials and recipes and tutorials to do so..

The Final Word

The Final Word

I hope you found just what you were looking for in Valentine's Day Diffuser Blends.  Let them help set the scene for a perfect day or simply just take some time out for yourself and treat yourself.

If there are nerves or anxieties, soothe them with Mandarin and Cedarwood. If you have had negative experiences or have experienced past trauma, help relax yourself and create an aura of safety with Rose and Vanilla Oleoresin.

Start the sensual experience by creating a fragrant ambiance with aphrodisiac essential oils and absolutes like Rose, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, and Patchouli. Add in rich woods like Cedarwood and Amyris to bring seductive, lingering base notes.

Remember, if the idea of blending something incredible daunts you a little, start with something that is already masterfully blended and use a VINEVIDA fragrance oil as a base. Then add in a few essential oils to leverage their wonderful actions.

Go all-out floral and feminine with the singular notes of Fresh Cut Roses, Jasmine, or Gardenia.

Plump for more complex blends like Our Version Of Rose 31 By Le Labo or Our Version Of Oud Paris By Diptyque and build upon their scent profile with aphrodisiac essential oils.

If you want deeper, more masculine scent profiles, start with masterfully blended fragrance oils like Our Version Of Tobacco Vanille By Tom Ford or Cedarwood and Amber.

When it comes to making your own Valentine’s Day diffuser blends, don’t be afraid to go with what you like and make it a Valentine’s Day to remember!
